Knowledge of medical secondary school students in South Bohemian region in providing first aid
PROCHÁZKA, Václav
My thesis focuses on knowledge in the field of First Aid taken at pupils of the graduation year to be a Medical Assistant, which they studied as a subject in secondary education. The theoretical part of the thesis can be divided into two segments. The first one deals with first aid itself. Here we discuss first-aid rules, legal liability, and last but not least, this part describes the most common health complications that require urgent solutions. For each, the first aid procedure is described. The second part describes how the first aid should be taught, in society in general and also for professionals who study to become a Medical Assistant. There are also issues related to the training of first aid lecturers. This section also contains a proposal for a new concept that, according to its authors, should make significant progress in first aid education. In the practical part of this bachelor thesis the questions of the questionnaire are analyzed, the questionnaire was given to the pupils of the graduation year studying to be a Medical Assistant in secondary health schools in the South Bohemian Region. These questionnaires were submitted to students to map their level of theoretical knowledge of first aid. Another aim was to detect deficiencies in first aid knowledge of students in the fourth year of the medical assistant at secondary health schools in the South Bohemian Region. The results should be provided to the managements of secondary health schools of the South Bohemian Region as an informative feedback, which reflects the level of knowledge of their pupils. Among other things, research has shown that the theoretical knowledge of graduate Medical Assistant students reaches an adequate level correlating with valid curricula. However, many students have significant shortcomings in their knowledge, especially in the area of basic emergency resuscitation.
Causes of genocide in Rwanda: Psychological aspects
Burešová, Jana ; Zemanová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Peterková, Jana (referee)
Ethnic discrimination has deep roots in Rwanda. For many dozens of years, Tutsis have been marked down as those whose task it is to rule the country and Hutus have been treated as those who have to submit to it. As time moved on, Hutu hatred had been growing steadily and resulted in coup d'état in 1959 and consequent persecutions of Tutsis. However, hidden grudge lingered on. The pretext for its revival was the RPF incursion into the country at the beginning of nineties. The invasion also became one of the major preconditions of the fastest genocide in history. This thesis aims to pinpoint actors with direct and also indirect influence, to specify their motives, to assess implications of their decisions and on the grounds of this all to divide them into groups of perpetrators, bystanders and rescuers. The identification of psychological aspects of Hutu perpetrators was made with intent to analyse the process of Us-Them thinking with its typical features and consequences and the process of dehumanization with particular emphasis on its linguistic forms. In connection with that, this thesis points out crucial importance of Rwandan media of hate which determined anti-Tutsi propaganda to a considerable extent.
The telephone assisted urgent resuscitation by means of despetcher of medical rescue service
LUŠOVSKÁ, Anna
Any time soon each of us can become a witness to a situation when someone else´s life is at immediate risk. Some people naturally remain calm and without major hesitations start saving the human life. However, there are fewer such people than those who, as a result of insufficient knowledge about urgent resuscitation, may endanger the chance of survival of others, because they are not able to provide basic first aid. Operation centers of medical emergency services know how to help such people to respond properly in emergency situations. The employed method is called the dispatcher-assisted telephone-guided cardiopulmonary resuscitation (the Czech acronym is TANR), which means that a worker of the operation center uses, in a life-threatening situation, a telephone to guide the person who can save life of a close person or even life of a stranger. This bachelor thesis in its theoretical part describes activities of the medical emergency service, the main tasks and content of work performed by the operating centers and its personnel. It also defines the term ``dispatcher-assisted telephone-guided cardiopulmonary resuscitation{\crqq}. The thesis describes methods of urgent resuscitation and in which situations they should be performed. The survey for this thesis was based on questionnaires distributed to dispatchers of medical emergency services in the Moravian-Silesian and Zlín regions. The questionnaire contained questions concerning their knowledge of and experience with the provision of TANR. Based on the survey I have come to the conclusion that TANR represents for the workers of operating centers a method to assist people in difficult, life-threatening situations.
First aid´s Knowledge of Emergency Units
MORAVCOVÁ, Marta
Increasing number of life and health threatening emergency events causes significant financial and environmental damage. With their large range and destructiveness these events compel an effective communication of the available rescue capacities. This increase was the crucial moment for commencement of a development of such system which would join all the necessary establishments predetermined for dealing with a specific emergency situation and concurrently which would become an effective tool for its handling. Such system nowadays is the Joint Rescue Service. The basic establishments within the Joint Rescue Service are the Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic, the Medical Rescue Service and Police of the Czech Republic. Mutual collaboration during actions is co-ordinated and requires permanent co-operation, especially when securing personal safety of rescue groups of the Fire Brigade and Police. It is beneficial when members of these establishments are educated in the area of first aid application as also during the actions lives of these people are often threatened and only the immediate first aid in place may be the crucial prognostic factor. The objective of my Bachelor Thesis was to map the knowledge of first aid application at the basic emergency establishments within the Joint Rescue (Police of the Czech Republic and the Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic). The research group consisted of members of police and fire brigade of the South Bohemian Region. Data collection was in form of a questionnaire provided to be filled in. I distributed the questionnaires personally as I wanted to discuss the relevant topic with the police and fire brigade members and to know their opinion. The research proved that both the members of the Fire Brigade and Police of the Czech Republic are very well prepared in terms of the theory of first aid application to an injured person. The established system of education of policemen and fire brigade men rescuing people in need of first aid is probably functional and provides policemen and fire brigade men with enough information on fist aid basics. Although policemen have less practical experience it does not mean that they would not be able to apply first aid to an injured person. Both rescue services are well prepared for helping an injured person.
